Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America and Cambridge University Press Announce Publishing Partnership
The Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America (SHEA) and Cambridge Journals, a division of Cambridge University Press, have announced a new publishing partnership for SHEA’s flagship scientific publication: Infection Control and Hospital Epidemiology (ICHE). Cambridge Journals will publish the journal starting January 2015.
Now in its 35th volume year, ICHE is published monthly, providing high-quality original, peer-reviewed scientific articles for professionals in epidemiology, infection prevention, and infection control programs in hospitals, medical schools, private practice and related healthcare settings such as long-term care facilities.
The journal supports scientifically authoritative, clinically applicable, peer-reviewed research on control and evaluation of the transmission of pathogens in healthcare institutions and on the use of epidemiological principles and methods to evaluate and improve the delivery of care and patient outcomes. Major topics covered include infection prevention practices, guidelines and guidance documents, surveillance, antimicrobial stewardship, outbreak analysis, environmental issues, occupational health, and regulatory issues.
“We are proud to be partnering with SHEA and are excited about the opportunity to offer a world-class publishing service to build upon the excellent work of the Editor-in-Chief Dr. Suzanne Bradley and to further strengthen the already enviable reputation of ICHE,” said Katy Christomanou, Publishing Director, Science, Technical and Medicine (STM) Journals at Cambridge. “ICHE will form an important part of Cambridge’s commitment to medical and health science publishing which advances public health through science and education. Through our market-leading Cambridge Journals Online platform we will provide the search and discovery tools to expand ICHE’s reach to new readers and researchers in the global markets we serve.”
“Aligning ICHE with the strong global reputation of Cambridge Journals will dramatically enhance efforts to improve patient outcomes related to infection prevention and infection control,” said Daniel Diekema, MD, President of SHEA. “Under the continued guidance of the ICHE editors, Cambridge will enable SHEA to continue to build its reputation for top-notch original science in the field.”
